QuickBooks cleanup · The handoff

What you receive at the end of a QuickBooks cleanup.

A cleanup is done when you can check it, not when someone says so. Every TechBrot cleanup ends with a reconciled file in your own QuickBooks, a written summary of every correction with the before-and-after evidence, the open items that still need a decision, and statements your CPA can file from — handed over with a walkthrough.

TL;DR

At the end of a TechBrot QuickBooks cleanup you receive: your own QuickBooks file reconciled to the bank, card and loan statements for the periods in scope; a written summary of every correction with before-and-after evidence; the open items that need your or your CPA’s decision, documented; profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements for the periods cleaned; and a handoff walkthrough. The summary is reviewed by TechBrot’s founder, a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, before it reaches you.

Quick answers

What a cleanup delivers, in five questions.

What do I receive at the end of a QuickBooks cleanup?

A reconciled file in your own QuickBooks, a written summary of every correction with before-and-after evidence, the open items still needing a decision, CPA-ready statements, and a handoff walkthrough.

How can I check a cleanup was really done?

Look for a zero-difference reconciliation report per account, statement balances that match the balance sheet, undeposited funds and uncategorized accounts at zero or explained, and every adjustment in the written summary.

Who reviews the summary before I get it?

TechBrot’s founder, a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, reviews it against the written scope.

Where does the finished file live?

In your own QuickBooks subscription. Nothing is moved into another system, so the file and the proof stay with you.

Does my CPA get the results?

Yes — the statements and the summary go to your CPA or tax preparer, who files. TechBrot does not file returns.

§What “done” means

A cleanup you can check, account by account.

“Cleaned up” means nothing unless it can be verified. At TechBrot a cleanup is finished when every account in scope is reconciled to its statement, every correction is written down with the evidence behind it, and anything that still needs a decision is listed rather than buried.

Everything is delivered in your own QuickBooks file. Nothing is moved into a system of ours, so the proof stays with you and your CPA after the engagement ends.

§The package

The handoff, item by item.

A reconciled file

Bank, credit-card and loan accounts reconciled to their statements for every period in scope, in your own QuickBooks file.

A written summary of corrections

Every correction listed with the before-and-after evidence: what was wrong, what was changed, and why. Reviewed by TechBrot’s founder, a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, before it reaches you.

Open items, documented

Anything that needs your or your CPA’s decision — an unexplained deposit, an old receivable, a missing statement — listed with what is needed to close it.

CPA-ready statements

Profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements for the periods cleaned, ready for your CPA or tax preparer to file from.

A handoff walkthrough

A call through the summary and the file, so you know what changed and how to keep it that way — or a straight line into monthly bookkeeping.

§How the handoff runs

From last correction to handover.

STEP 1

Final review

The file and the summary are reviewed against the written scope before anything is delivered.

STEP 2

Delivery

The summary, the open items and the statements, alongside the reconciled file itself.

STEP 3

Walkthrough

A call through what changed, what remains open, and what to watch for.

STEP 4

CPA handoff

The statements and summary go to your CPA or tax preparer, who files.

STEP 5

Stay clean, if you want

Continue on monthly bookkeeping, or keep the file yourself with the summary as the map.

§Check it yourself

Five ways to check any cleanup was done.

These hold for any provider’s cleanup, not just ours.

  • Each reconciled account has a reconciliation report showing a zero difference against the statement.
  • The balance sheet’s bank, card and loan balances match the statements at the end of the last period in scope.
  • Undeposited funds and uncategorized accounts are at zero, or the remaining amount is explained.
  • Every adjusting entry is in the written summary with a reason.
  • The open-items list is short, specific and has an owner for each item.
§Pricing

What a cleanup costs.

QuickBooks cleanup is published at $1,200–$15,000+, fixed fee against a written scope: a focused cleanup of a single issue at $1,200–$3,000 and a standard multi-issue cleanup at $3,000–$7,500. The scope lists the deliverables before work starts.

Two real engagements, written up from their clients’ verified Clutch reviews, are in the case studies.

Questions about the cleanup handoff.

Is the written summary included in every cleanup?
Yes. Every cleanup ends with a written summary of what was fixed, with before-and-after evidence, and the open items that remain.
What if something cannot be resolved?
It goes on the open-items list with what is needed to close it — a document, a decision from you, or a call your CPA should make. It is not hidden in a suspense account.
Do I get reconciliation reports?
Each reconciled account’s reconciliation lives in your QuickBooks file, where you and your CPA can run the report for any period in scope.
How much does a cleanup cost?
QuickBooks cleanup is published at $1,200–$15,000+, fixed fee against a written scope that lists the deliverables before work starts.
Is TechBrot a CPA firm?
No. TechBrot is an independent bookkeeping and advisory firm, not a CPA firm, and does not perform audits, reviews, compilations, or income-tax filing.
