QuickBooks help · ProAdvisor → ProPartner
ProAdvisor becomes ProPartner in 2027. Here is what actually changes.
Intuit is retiring the ProAdvisor program name and its tier system in early 2027 and replacing them with ProPartner Accountants. If you are choosing a bookkeeper on the strength of a certification, this page tells you which part of that credential has an expiry date and which part does not — and what to ask for instead of a tier badge.
The program name changes; the certifications do not. Intuit has said that in early 2027 ProPartner Accountants will launch and succeed the ProAdvisor Program, and that the ProAdvisor name and its tier designations will sunset — replaced by Member, Partner, Preferred Partner, Premier Partner and Elite Partner. Intuit has also said that certifications and training in ProAdvisor Academy remain free and available. So an exam-based certification — QuickBooks Online Level 1 or Level 2, Payroll, Enterprise — is a durable fact about a person. A tier badge is a fact about a firm’s relationship with Intuit, and that system is being replaced. Until launch, the ProAdvisor Program remains Intuit’s program of record and nothing about it changes.

ProAdvisor to ProPartner, in five questions.
Is the QuickBooks ProAdvisor program ending?
The name and the tiers are. Intuit has said ProPartner Accountants launches in early 2027 and succeeds the ProAdvisor Program, and that the ProAdvisor name and its tier designations sunset at that point. Until then the ProAdvisor Program remains Intuit’s program of record and nothing changes.
Do the certifications still count?
Yes. Intuit has said certifications and training in ProAdvisor Academy remain free and available to all partners. A certification is an exam passed by a named person; the program wrapper around it is what is being renamed.
What replaces the Gold, Silver and Platinum tiers?
Five ProPartner tiers: Member, Partner, Preferred Partner, Premier Partner, and Elite Partner. Intuit has said points will be based on activities including firm and client spend on Intuit software, certifications completed, and other activity in the Intuit ecosystem.
Which certifications count toward a ProPartner tier?
Intuit names QuickBooks Online Level 1, QuickBooks Online Level 2, QuickBooks Workforce, and Intuit Enterprise Suite — at least one active certification per year, plus at least one client on QuickBooks Online or Intuit Enterprise Suite, to sit above the entry Member tier.
What should I ask a bookkeeper instead of asking about tiers?
Which certifications are currently active, on which product, and which named person holding them will actually work on your file. Those answers survive the rename; a tier badge does not.
What sunsets, and what carries over.
Intuit announced the change on its own Firm of the Future site. Two sentences carry the whole thing: “In early 2027, Intuit ProPartner Accountants will officially launch and succeed the current ProAdvisor Program”, and “the ProAdvisor name and tier designations will sunset, and will be replaced by the name ProPartner and its corresponding tiers: Member, Partner, Preferred Partner, Premier Partner, and Elite Partner.”
Alongside that, Intuit states that “Certifications and training in ProAdvisor Academy will also remain free and available to all partners”, and that “the ProAdvisor Program remains your program of record until ProPartner Accountants launch in early 2027.”
Sunsets in early 2027
The ProAdvisor program name, and the tier designations that go with it. If you have seen a firm advertise a Gold, Silver or Platinum ProAdvisor tier, that is the part with a date on it. TechBrot retired its own tier badge from its credential grid in September 2026 for exactly this reason — a badge for a system being replaced is a claim with a shelf life.
Carries over
The certifications themselves. They are exam-based, they are held by named people rather than by a company, and Intuit has said the academy and its certifications remain. Intuit also names the certifications that will count toward ProPartner tier eligibility: QuickBooks Online Level 1, QuickBooks Online Level 2, QuickBooks Workforce, or Intuit Enterprise Suite — at least one active certification per year, plus at least one client on QuickBooks Online or Intuit Enterprise Suite, to sit above the entry Member tier.
What nobody can tell you yet
Intuit has published the tier names and the eligibility basis; it has not published the full benefit set, the exact launch date inside “early 2027”, or how existing tier standing maps onto the new tiers. Anyone telling you precisely how your bookkeeper’s status converts is guessing. This page will be updated when Intuit publishes more — it is dated at the top for that reason.
Four questions that survive the rename.
A credential is only useful if you can check it. These four work today and will still work after the program changes name.
- Which certifications are active, and on which product? QuickBooks Online Level 2 is a different exam from Level 1, and Desktop, Enterprise and Payroll are separate again. “Certified” on its own does not say which.
- Who holds them — and will that person work on my file? Certifications belong to people. A firm can be full of certified staff and still put an uncertified person on your books.
- Can I verify it? Intuit runs a public directory of active ProAdvisors. Ask for the name to check, not a badge image.
- What happens after early 2027? If a firm’s answer is a tier badge, ask what the underlying certification is. If it does not have one, the badge was the whole answer.
TechBrot’s own position, stated plainly: the certifications are held by named members of the team, they are listed on the ProAdvisor team page with what each one covers, and verification is available on request. The firm is not an Intuit affiliate and earns no commission on any Intuit product.

Ask which certifications are active, not which tier badge is on the website.
A tier badge is being retired. An active certification, on the product your file actually runs on, is the thing worth checking — and TechBrot will name the certified person who would work on your file before you sign anything.
